NVIDIA announced today that they will be taking a $150 million hit in order to repair faulty graphical processing units (GPU) and media communications processors (MCP).

The company is P.A. Semi, and it's rumored that Apple is willing to spend $278 million dollars in cash to acquire them.

It was no surprise that AMD posted a loss for the first quarter. However, their loss was quite a bit more than expected– $611 million. There are plenty of factors that contribute to this loss, but I think Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor definitely could have contributed to it.

According to John Markoff of The New York Times, today Intel will be demonstrating an experimental computer chip with 80 separate cores.
