Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Release Date in 10 Days!

Apple has finally decided to inform the public about the official release date of the acclaimed Leopard operating system, and it's in just 10 days (on October 26th). Lines will surely form outside of the Apple stores, but I would imagine that there will be more than enough copies available.

Leaked Screenshots of the Zune 2 Software

It looks like one lucky user "accidentally" got the Zune 2 software update a little early thanks to a supposed mishap in Windows Update. JJRules, a member of the Zunerama forum, posted some screenshots late last week of the Zune 2 interface (version 2.1.0522.00) that is scheduled to be released in November.

Trick to Download Vista SP1 Beta via Windows Update

Microsoft has decided that they want to limit the Vista SP1 Beta download to a select group of testers while they work out some of the kinks. I'm sure as the development cycle progresses they will make a pre-release download freely available to the public, but there is a hack floating around now that will let you "join" in the Beta program.

OpenOffice 3.0 Wants to Compete with Outlook

I was just over at the OpenOffice site browsing through some of their marketing materials to see if there was anything interesting. I came across a presentation that was given on September 19th at the OpenOffice 2007 Conference. The presentation was called "," and it walked through some of the most notable features that are expected to be released in the next big OpenOffice milestone.

Avast! Antivirus for Windows Home Server (WHS)

As many of you probably know the free Avast! Home is my antivirus of choice, and there is a new Beta available for people running the recently released Windows Home Server (WHS). Anyone can download and install the Beta, and one of the big advantages that you'll receive by using it is the central management screen that's integrated into the WHS Console pictured above.

Betavoltaic Batteries Last 30-Years in Your Laptop

Could you imagine owning a laptop or a cellphone that had a battery life of 30-years (without recharging)? Such a technology could render chargers extinct because it is much more likely that the battery will outlast the product itself. The betavoltaic batteries promise to do just that, and no they are not outrageously enormous.

OpenSUSE 10.3 Review (Release is Tomorrow)

For the longest time I was always a huge fan of OpenSUSE. Up until about a year ago that was all I used on the Linux side of things, but Ubuntu's quickly rising popularity caused me to start using that more. Tomorrow, however, will mark the release of OpenSUSE 10.3, and I flipped through a lot of documentation today to see what it was going to include.

Flock 1.0 Coming Fall 2007

When Flock 0.9 launched it was a pretty big overhaul, and now their next big milestone is Flock 1.0 which currently has a vague release date of Fall 2007. Honestly this is the dream browser for any heavy social network user out there, and hopefully they'll pursue more of the less tech savvy people who use MySpace, Facebook, and YouTube because I can guarantee that they would absolutely love it.
