Rumors are running rampant that Yahoo is considering acquiring MySpace.  This isn’t just some random rumor either – The New York Times is reporting that News Corp. and Yahoo have discussed the idea. It’s a pretty “loose proposal” as the New York Times says, but the idea has been thrown out there.

However, up until this point, users generally had to turn to outside sources to add that element of customization to their profiles.  There are hundreds of third party sources that offer pre-designed themes and backgrounds for MySpace pages for free.

Facebook and Friendster Introduce Classifieds

It appears that the latest social network trend is classifieds as both Friendster and Facebook are taking this route. Facebook teamed up with Oodle, while Friendster teamed up with OLX. Neither of the services are extremely impressive because in both situations, Oodle and OLX are just gaining access to the massive amounts of people that Facebook and Friendster have in their communities.

Users were outraged by the “feed” system that provides an overall summary of what’s going on with friends. As a result, people protested in major numbers saying that this was the “ultimate stalkers dream.”

MySpace Revamps Photos, Introduces Albums

MySpace, the Social Network Monster is in the process of rolling out their photo albums feature.  Previously when you uploaded photos there was no way to group them into albums, and photos had to be uploaded individually which was definitely more of a hassle than it needed to be.
