I love Thunderbird as a desktop email client because it is light weight and fast. I used Outlook 2007 for a little bit, and the features it offered were amazing but it was all a lot more than what I needed. Then when Thunderbird 2 was released I saw it as a great opportunity to switch back.
Mozilla has hit another huge milestone, this time with their email management software called Thunderbird. The newest Thunderbird 2 contains a whole list of new features that I normally just point out really quick.
Mozilla is preparing for an official test day tomorrow for Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0. As of right now they are sitting quite comfortably with zero bugs in the queue, which is remarkable for any application about to be released.
I haven’t been able to find an official release date for Mozilla Thunderbird 2, but it is definitely coming up. They are moving into the release candidate (RC) stage and from that I would guess that a release is due within a month or so. Thunderbird 1.5 had two release candidates before its final release in January 2006, which covered nearly two months in time.
I was surely surprised this morning to wake up to news that Thunderbird 2 Beta 2 has been released! I knew that it would be sometime this month but I figured it wouldn't come until next week.

A big milestone, Thunderbird 2.0 Beta 1, has finally landed for anyone trying to find a great email client that won't cost them a penny. In a really surprising move only the English-U.S. version is available but I'm not sure if they will add more languages over time or if this is all they have planned for this milestone.
There are two milestone releases for Mozilla right around the corner and just in time for the holidays. The first one to point out is Firefox 2.0.0.1 which is scheduled for December 14.
Mozilla has been taking a little longer than I expected to complete Thunderbird 2 which is in the Pre-Beta stage right now. It has been that way for nearly two-months and Firefox 2 has already been released.
Eudora is making its way over to the open source world because Qualcomm decided to start basing the Eudora Mail application off of Mozilla Thunderbird.
Mozilla has released Thunderbird 2 Pre-Beta 1 onto their FTP. I have been using the latest nightly build since before Alpha 1 was released but I have only noticed one significant change and that is with the Options screen (pictured below). I am sure a lot has been done but it is probably more "under-the-hood."
Since Mozilla released Thunderbird 2.0 Alpha 1 I decided to put together a portable version for the several requests that I had. If you are looking for a more stable version John Haller has it over at PortableApps.com.

There has been a lot of hype about Firefox 2.0 builds (codename Bon Echo) but have you been thinking about Thunderbird 2.0? Just like how Firefox 2.0 is going to have some nice new features Thunderbird will also.
Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.4 has been released even though Mozilla has not officially announced it. This build has been placed in their FTP folder under the releases section. I would think that they would announce the release later today, or at least by the weekend.
