Using Twitter to Control Your Computer

Looking back at how Twitter has evolved I can't help but be amazed by not only it's popularity, but also the various services it is used for. I've seen ways to track packages using Twitter, add events to your calendar, manage your todo list, check balances on your accounts, and all sorts of other things. It's crazy.

Do You Remember When…

Do you remember when Twitter was a word that only the tech-savvy crowd have heard of? It was back in March of 2007 that I finally started paying attention to what Twitter was, only because there was so much buzz about it on the blogs I was reading. Between then and now, Twitter has experienced all kinds of growing pains, including outages from traffic overload.

Is Twitter Becoming a News-Wire?

Twitter is one of those services I just can't make up my mind about. On one hand it provides a simple and quick way to get information about what's going out there whether it be updates from friends or news from my favorite sites.

CyberNotes: Update Your Status on Twitter (and more) from Opera’s Address Bar

A few weeks ago we wrote about a Firefox extension that could post to Twitter right from the address bar, and it impressed me to say the least. One commenter, who goes by the name lilmoder, cleverly pointed out that you can do the same thing in Opera using its keyword search functionality.

Use Twitter to Track your UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL Shipments

Despite the fact that Twitter was despised (and still is) by many people when it first came out, it has actually managed to become pretty useful. There are countless different Twitter applications and websites available which allow Twitter users to add more functionality to the service.

At last, Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is upon us and in a few short hours, all of the rumors will finally be put to rest. More than ever, the rumors have been running rampant over what it is that Steve Jobs will announce during the keynote set to start at 10 AM Pacific (12 PM Central) today at Moscone West in San Francisco.

Digsby: A Nice Cross-Network Messenger

I've been meaning to give Digsby a spin ever since the public Beta was released about two weeks ago. It looked like it was a well designed cross-network (and cross-platform) instant messenger, and it offered quite a few features that no other instant messengers have touched on before. And after having used it for only about 30 minutes I think I may have found myself a new messenger.

Twhirl: Twitter Client with Pownce & Jaiku Support

Ever since I signed-up for Twitter, I haven't gotten into using any type of Twitter client to help out with posting updates, but I have heard many people talking about how Twhirl was one of their favorites. Twhirl is actually desktop based and runs on the Adobe AIR platform.

Make Your Own Twitter with WordPress

I've been using Twitter more and more these days, and it has surprisingly become a nice way to communicate with friends. That's one of the reasons why Automattic, the founders of WordPress, decided that they should make their own Twitter using WordPress. I mean why not, WordPress already has posting capabilities so it's all about skinning really.

Pownce Jumps Out of Beta and into the Public

It's been about six months since Pownce first launched into an invite-only beta, and now they've jumped out into the public. It's considered to be a "social networking and micro-blogging" site, and it resembles Twitter quite a bit except with more features.

Google Ready to Take on Twitter

We know that Google likes to get their hand in just about everything and anything which is why they make so many acquisitions. Google's acquisition choice today is Jaiku, the fairly new service that competes with Twitter.

CyberNotes: Top 10 Sidebar Sites

I’ve been addicted to sidebars ever since I bought my first widescreen monitor. Sidebars have the ability to provide a lot of information inside a very small space, and it wasn’t until recently that I fully started to utilize them.

Twitter, RTM, and Google Calendar with Launchy

Launchy is becoming a well-known application among PC power users. When the latest version launched back in April it included a plugin called Runny which added a whole new aspect to the application. I love that plugin because you can create customized commands for Launchy, such as one for composing an email.

Facebook entering Twitter Turf?

No one can argue about Twitter’s recent explosion in popularity that started around March. However, you’ll find plenty of people arguing over whether or not it will last.  Many are saying that this is just a fad, that’ll be over as quick as it started, others are saying this is just the beginning.

Twitter is Exploding in Popularity, but wait, what is it?

You’re probably already sick of the word Twitter. I know, I’m just about at that point too. It wasn’t long ago that I hadn’t even heard of it, but lately it seems to have exploded in popularity.
