Watch High-Resolution YouTube Videos

The words YouTube and "high-resolution" have never really fit well in the same sentence. YouTube has always greatly limited the resolution of their videos to conserve on bandwidth, but going forward that may not always be the case. As it turns out there is a little something that you can add on to the end of a YouTube URL to have it play a high-resolution version of the same video.

DivX Shutting Down Stage6.com

Thursday February 28th, 2008 will be the day that DivX shuts down Stage6.com for good. For many, this comes as a huge disappointment.  Stage6 was a place where people went to watch, share, and download high quality videos. One reason it was so great was the fact that the content was compatible with over 70 million electronic devices from major manufacturers.

The Future of Technology

One of the things that I was pretty disappointed with at CES this year was Microsoft's "future" segment. It's where they often give us a glimpse of what to expect 10 or 15 years from now, and when watching it I normally find myself giggling like a little kid in a candy store. This year they really didn't put much thought into it.

Top 10 Funniest Super Bowl Commercials

Super Bowl XLII was yesterday where the New York Giants just barely squeezed out a win over the undefeated New England Patriots. Like every year there is a lot of focus on the commercials that air since companies are paying millions for a mere 30 second spot.

iTunes Video Rentals Hacked Already

It's inevitable that people would find ways to get the most out of Apple's new video rental service available via iTunes, but I expected it to be this easy. The hack that has emerged is like the oldest trick in the book when it comes to circumventing time-restricted materials on your computer, and I figured by this day in age companies like Apple would been a little wiser.

It's been just about a year to the date since Netflix dove into online movies.  They did it hoping to appeal to the under 30 crowd, the ones who are familiar and comfortable with getting their entertainment content online.

CyberNotes: Viddler Video Sharing

A few weeks ago we, gave Viddler 1st place for being the best sharing site of 2007. That's when it hit us that we've been using Viddler for quite awhile without actually writing about it. Not spreading the word about Viddler is pretty much doing an injustice to our readers. And we can't forget to mention that we currently have 3 out of 20 of the most popular videos on Viddler. :)

iPhone Firmware 1.1.3 Features

There has been a lot of buzz around the next iPhone firmware upgrade that is expected to be released as early as this week. At first there was some speculation that this is just a hoax, but if that was the case there has been way too much work put into it. A video has been provided, which we've embedded below, that demonstrates the various new features.

FilesTube: Search for & Download Music, Videos, and Files

Just last week we introduced you to BeeMP3, a search engine for music, and then a few weeks before that we showed you a RapidShare search engine. Now wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to combine the features of both sites into one convenient search engine?

Adobe Flash Player Now With H.264 (HD quality)

Just the other day Adobe released Flash Player 9.0.115.0, and the most notable feature is the new H.264 (HD quality) video support. That is pretty big news because H.264 offers better video quality at lower bitrates, which inevitably makes for a better viewing experience. As Wikipedia points out there are numerous benefits to using H.264 for sharing videos.

Big Xbox 360 Update Coming (Yep, DivX)

On December 4th at 2:00AM PST Xbox 360 owners (with an Xbox LIVE subscription) will be able to get some awesome new features at no additional cost! At the top of the feature list is MPEG-4 Part 2 video support, which means that most of your DivX and Xvid files will now be play on the system! This was expected, however, because of the DivX/PS3 compatibility that was announced earlier this month.

Google My Location – Look Ma, No GPS!

Google has launched a service called My Location, and it could be a huge breakthrough in mobile mapping technology. My Location is available at no cost to those who use Google Maps on a mobile device, but don't have GPS capabilities built-in. Technicalities aside, it uses cell towers to approximate the location of the user so that it is easier to find out where you are headed.

Crayon Physics: An Intriguingly Nerdy Game

I'm not really big on playing computer games that leave you sitting at your computer for days on end, but that doesn't mean I don't play games. A new game that is in the works, called Crayon Physics, is the epitome of what I love in a game: fun, increasingly difficult, and extremely creative.
