Backupify Automatically Creates Backups Of Your Online Belongings

Over the last five years, there has been a huge increase in the amount of data we store online. We post pictures to Flickr, bookmark sites on Delicious, keep documents in Google Docs and tweet with Twitter. But unlike with offline data, backing up your online belongings requires a different approach.

WordPress 2.7 Screenshots & Features

Most of you probably know that our blog is powered by WordPress, and last week version 2.7 Beta 1 was released for anyone who felt compelled to try it out. In the past I've never used a Beta version of WordPress on this blog, but I normally give them all whirl in a test environment to make sure they don't leave me begging for mercy in the end.

WordPress for iPhone: Ultimate Photo Blogging Tool?

There are a lot of great applications that are coming through Apple's App Store for both the iPhone and iPod Touch, but one of my new favorites would have to be the 100% free WordPress for iPhone.

WordPress 2.6 Utilizes Google Gears for Better Performance

When WordPress 2.5 was released earlier this year the development team spent a lot of time focusing on the commonly overlooked administration area. Anyone running their own WordPress blog knows how much time you spend on the backside of things, and so this update was very much appreciated.

WordPress 2.5 is Pretty Nice

It has taken a little while to get to this point, but WordPress 2.5 was released earlier this weekend. The biggest thing about the new version is the completely revamped administration area (). It not only has a new color scheme, but has also been reworked to make you even more productive.

Make Your Own Twitter with WordPress

I've been using Twitter more and more these days, and it has surprisingly become a nice way to communicate with friends. That's one of the reasons why Automattic, the founders of WordPress, decided that they should make their own Twitter using WordPress. I mean why not, WordPress already has posting capabilities so it's all about skinning really.

CyberNotes: Mobile Blogging (Moblogging)

These days Internet access is available almost anywhere you go. Even if you refuse to pay for wireless Internet through your cellphone carrier, there are normally plenty of hotspots around town for you to stop in on. Once you get connected you can whip out a mobile device, such as a Pocket PC or cellphone, and blog away.

Glimpse at WordPress 2.5

Chyrp: A WordPress Replacement?

There's a new blogging engine on the block, and it's simple and clean. It's called Chyrp and it was designed to be light as far as weight is concerned, but still full of functionality. Could this engine end up moving in on WordPress's territory? I think it's possible, but it would definitely take some time before people felt confident enough to make the switch.

New Recommended Tags WordPress Plugin

Our Recommended Tags plugin for WordPress 2.3 has only been out a few days, but we just released a pretty big update thanks to some of the feedback we've received via email. This plugin works off of the new WordPress 2.3 tagging system, and having spent several hours putting this together I have to give the WordPress development team major props.

Recommended Tags Plugin for WordPress 2.3

Many of you might have noticed in our Daily Downloads today that WordPress 2.3 has been released. One of its most acclaimed features is the built-in tagging system, but to be honest it is a overly simple as it currently stands. It has no sort of near-duplicate detection when adding tags to your posts, which can quickly create a huge mess for anyone with a few dozen tags.

OS & Browser Stats for Bloggers

WordPress.com is the home of nearly 1.4 million blogs, and in a days time they receive upwards of 12 million pageviews. There’s roughly 75,000 new posts among those blogs each day, along with 30,000 comments (not including the ones caught by Akismet). For that reason WordPress.com is an accurate measure of what tools the blogosphere is using.
