Its about 2-3 years old and i'm facing exactly the same problem. The wireless stops working and then the motherboard packs up. Also im facing an over heating problem which shuts it down after only a few minutes of use. I highly recommend against buying a HP laptop

I have a HP pavillion too. Its about 2-3 years old and i’m facing exactly the same problem. When I called the manufacturer, I was brow beaten into not sending it in. I had to pack it myself, and if I made a mistake, my warrenty was void. I paid shipping both ways, but if they decided that it wasn't worth fixing, they would not send it back to me. My extended warrenty said that it started as soon as the computer was registered. The store refused to honor the contract. When the year was up, I contacted them again. By that time I was using an external keyboard and an external monitor because the screen had also broken. The repairs were refused. I was told that the screen broke because I touched it too hard, and the keyboard was broken due to general abuse. The defunct computer now takes up space in a box in my garage. My advice is "stay away from Acer"

My Aser Aspire made it about 4 months before the keys started falling off. Service and collection by courier in the UK was efficient and fast and cost me nothing, but within a few months the same fault is back....and while I am in India. Trying to get International warranty repair in India has been a joke. Customer service is so bad I won't list the complaints and to top it all you have only a small no of places covering the international warranty....so what is the international warranty worth.....absolutely nothing!! To get this repair done I will have to make 4 journeys of 12 hrs by bus to drop off the laptop and then collect it after the repair is done - because they won't deal with or supply a courier. The other option is to spend 200 pounds on airfares. The expense of getting this repair done is so much that I am now binning this laptop after only 10 months of minimal use and having to buy a new one....needless to say it won't be ACER...If you are thinking ACER....think very, VERY carefully!!!

Hi
ACER SUCKS

I have an ACER Aspire 5536 which required major hard disk repair after less than 6 months. I firstly lost sound, the computer would not recognize that I had any sound installed,it was rebooted, nothing. After a couple of weeks the motherboard died. I know I might have hit a badly designed laptop, but I will stay away from hp. I am considering a Mac Book.

I am one of those many people who had problems with a hp pavilion dv6000.
I firstly lost sound, the computer would not recognize that I had any sound installed,it was rebooted, nothing. First my wireless went, now they're telling me I need to replace my entire motherboard, and my laptop's less than 2 years old. A lot of people are having these problems, but they're not doing much to help. I don't recommend HP at all.

Wow, I’m having exactly the same problems with my HP right now. I have a lot of patience but after being on the phone over an hour and saying " I"m sorry, I don't understand what you are saying", I just give up.
