There are alot of "Free Apps" for OS X you just have to go to the Apple site and look for them or just go to http://www.macosxhints.com lot's of stuff there and on many of the Mac sites... Yes, these seem VERY useful – maybe for the trust-funded teenagers. Linux and Windows have all the apps I need.

I’m not saying OS X isn’t interesting, or good. (Although I hate Mac hardware.) I’m just saying, Mr K, that your apps argument is nill.

Think about it... most of what is done on the computer is internet-based and Mac has Firefox, so that's a huge amount of your computer life right there. For all the peripheral things Apple has software that works right out of the box (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie). The only thing I'd say might hold back a potential switcher are games and work-software. There are a lot of business programs that are definitely Windows only. But for general home use, the Mac is there and in some ways, surpasses Windows. I’d just say the transition will be easier than you think.
