That is true. These software companies are probably taking fewer risks than they would if it was up to the designers, but they also have untold numbers of users that they need to make sure they satisfy. And I think the general consensus among users is that big change is bad.

Plus we don't actually know how long Apple was working on this operating system, so we can't exactly calculate how long it took them to make it either.

I don't think the Ubuntu upgrade was "big" enough where it would create a lot of issues and anger people. That's one of the benefits of having a 6-month release cycle...people are able to identify problems before they get so out of hand that it becomes unsolvable.

I actually had a few problems with the initial upgrade process, with errors saying it could not upgrade during the upgrade install, but now it works fine. I am still new to Linux, so I can not really give you an in depth review.

So, isnt this obvious? these OSes are newborns...granted they could have spent more time on making them "better," but then everyone would continue bashing how Microsoft delays and delays (strange how I barely saw any bashing on Apple about putting off OS X Leopard after they deliberately picked on Microsoft and promised they would not delay Leopard; sorry, had to be said). Anyway, all these two need is time, and as I said many times before, I have been on Vista after XP completely crapped out on me (due to my own fault, so no bashing Microsoft on that one), and Vista has worked properly and has had not nearly as many problems as I have heard coming from both sides of the fence (MS and Mac).
