The only reason Sony allows linux on the PS3 was so they could try to convince the EU that it was a “computer” rather than a video game console as there would have been tax breaks. It didn’t fly, btw.

Also, this seems to prove the prevailing belief that all the launch titles suck. Who would be installing linux rather than playing video games?

I agree. Watching the video shows how quick the Linux runs on the PS3 but it would be even more cool if Sony made it a little easier to install the operating system...or even include an operating system with it! That would have rocked a lot of people's worlds then.

Sony has really done the open source community a HUGE favor here. They have officially made the world’s first TRUE solution to gaming with linux side by side. This is seriously the best $600 computer (or even $1200 on ebay) ever.
