twhirl Ever since I signed-up for Twitter, I haven’t gotten into using any type of Twitter client to help out with posting updates, but I have heard many people talking about how Twhirl was one of their favorites. Twhirl is actually desktop based and runs on the Adobe AIR platform. People like it because it works on both PCs and Mac computers and it automatically retrieves updates from friends and color-codes the different types of messages. Recently Twhirl 0.7 was released with a few new features that have me thinking I really need to download this and start using it.

Topping the list of features that make Thwirl even better is that you can now post your updates to Twitter, Jaiku, and Pownce, all at the same time. All that you have to do is provide your login information for each of those accounts and then when you update your Twitter status, the others will be updated at the same time. If you’re using all three micro-blogging programs regularly, this is a HUGE timer-saver for you. The only downside that we can see at this point is that the client will only show you your Twitter stream and not the updates from Pownce or Jaiku which means you’ll still have to visit those sites to see what your contacts are up to.

If you’d like to get started, you’ll need to download and install both Adobe AIR and the latest release of Twhirl (get both here). At this point it’s free, but you can give a donation to the developer to support the program if you find it as useful as I think you will.
