Interesting comment about the Class D fire extinguishers. That adds another level of danger to this, because using the wrong type can actually make it worse. I wonder if electronics stores have to have Class Ds?

One thing I found interesting was the comment that if you were to attempt to put out this fire to use a ‘Class D’ extinguishers. Most households don’t have a ‘Class D’, most will have the standard ‘Class A-B-C’ extinguishers. This would be one of those times it would be best to leave it to the trained professionals (fire department).

I just fill my fire extinguisher with compressed gasoline…it is much more fun that way. I like a challenge.

Move away from the laptop quickly…screaming and with a hole drilled right through your hand! If you were typing it might even have hit an artery. Now I see why they recalled these things.

What amazes me is that out of all the stories I read about these things exploding is that I think there was only one injury. I guess people must realize to move away when it starts smoking.
