I’ve had numerous emails sent to me wondering how people can use Vista’s advanced system recovery options when their computer doesn’t come with a Vista installation disc. One reader also pointed out that this was a problem when trying to fix the “BOOTMGR is Missing” error some receive when starting up their computer.
So how can you get around this? NeoSmart whipped up a Vista Recovery Disc using some tools provided by Microsoft. With it you’ll be able to faithfully use Vista’s recovery tools without actually having the original setup media.
The download is 120MB in size, and it will need to be burned to a DVD/CD before it can be used. If you don’t already have the Vista setup media it’s wise to download and burn this now before the day arises that you aren’t able to bootup your computer.
Get the Vista Recovery Disc directly from MediaFire

Thanks to CyberNet News. The recovery disc has helped me a lot.
That’s what we’re here for!
My laptop (HP G6000) did not come with the required recovery discs, but I just bought some off best2serve.com as instructed by the HP helpline ppl on the phone… but wen i put the disc into the drive i get none of the windows that are mentioned everywhere with regard to “startup repair” etc. n it just goes straight into “windows loading files” exactly the same as the system restore did if u press f11.. and then after that it just goes onto a blue screen and nothing happens… what do i have to do to fix it?.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
The recovery discs from the manufacturer may not be designed to do this. They are likely only used for restoring the computer back to the factory state.
Try downloading and burning the recovery disc linked to above.
whew it great!

Yes, I believe this disc is for 32-bit only.

can u help
oh ok it give me this error code 0×80070002 when i type in my product key
Thanks to this great forum, my problem started when i try to burn my set of Recovery Disc from my 7 months old HP 530 laptop operating on Windows Vista 32bits. The process of the burning crashed along the line but not knowing to me because i thought the set of the Backup and Recovery CD is just only one DVD CD since the process stop on one DVD CD but later got it that it should be two DVD CDs. Foolish me, I was rest assured that I have the Backup and Recovery CD with me until that very ill-fitted day that I tried to recover my laptop. Along the process, when it got to where there is REINSTALLING THE ORIGINAL CONTENTS in the Recovery Manager screen, my computer just show ”ERROR 0×800600301 IF PROBLEM CONTINUES, CONTACT THE HP CUSTOMER SERVICE”. The next option it gave me is to click OK or CANCEL. Of which if I did , It reboots and stop at the first black screen that usually show: PRESS F11 FOR EMERGENCY RECOVERY. Of which if I did not press the F11 button, It shows: ”BOOTMG FILE MISSING”, ”PRESS CRTL+ALT+DEL TO REBOOT” and it will be going through this loop throughout. And to my HOPELESS burnt Backup and Recovery DVD CD, is as empty as blank CD and as useless as garbage. Please, can this your Recovery CD solve my problem???, if it will really does, I will be the luckiest and happiest man in this world. Looking forward to hearing from you because my hope lies in your hands. Don’t you think so??? Thanks once more……lol
