The people over at Wired have found a truly amazing image that gives you a close look at what we might see (literally) in the future. The Google Contact pictured above appears to have some sort of wireless mechanism to retrieve information like the weather. While such a tiny device seems impossible right now it may not be as far away as you think.
Nano technologies are creeping up very fast and this could be something that is developed in the next 10 to 20 years. It is scary to think about because if the contact lens gets a virus will you receive pinkeye? If it crashes will you be blinded with a blue screen of death? This could start a whole new breed of hackers!

While the idea is pretty cool and all, whoever created the image didn’t really understand how contacts work. Your pupil can’t open up wide enough to see much of anything beyond the little reticle circle in the middle of this illustration.
So all of the text information shown in this picture would not be visible to the wearer.
It would be possible to dilate your eyes artifically wide with drops, but you wouldn’t want to go outside like that. Think about how painful bright light can be after a standard eye exam glaucoma dilation. Ouch.
