The creator of the mashup has made a small mistake though: why is Google using both YouTube and Google Video on the same page? Shouldn't they be pushing one particular platform?</blockquote></div>
They would probably want to push YouTube a little more because of its obvious popularity, but they should still offer some link to Google Video since they still want to keep that service alive.

I think this goes back to other discussions about Google pulling together all their services. This mock up at least pulls together all their services into one, easy to navigate homepage.

I think that's why Google has been #1 for awhile. Both msn.com and yahoo.com look to cluttered. With google everything is in a bar (or drop box). And if you want more, you can customize it.

Oh yeah, I absolutely agree that Google.com shouldn't switch to something like this. I was thinking that this should be another alternative to the Personalized Google Homepage that users create. It provides easy access to all of their services and therefore exposes many of them to new users as well.

I use Google.com whenever I am looking to do a quick search in a browser without a search bar. I would hate to see the homepage cluttered up and extending the amount of time it takes to load.

The beauty of Google's homepage is its simplicity and elegance. I wouldn't want a Google homepage (google.com) filled up with all those things. I wouldn't mind if Google made their personalized homepage (google.com/ig) look like that because that would be awesome.
