Tracking Down Great Software For You!
Don’t you hate when you go to delete a file or folder and it says that you can’t because it is in use? The worst part is that you can never figure out what the heck is using it. WhoLockMe will solve that problem for you because you will just have to right-click on the file that is in use and select the option “Who Lock Me.” It will then reveal the programs that are using it.

I have had this happen all the time to me, especially after I uninstall something and try to delete the folder that it left behind. It can normally be cleared up simply by restarting my computer but this tool will provide the answer that my curious mind is always wondering.
WhoLockMe is compatible with Windows NT, 2000, and XP.
Thanks to “Nate The Great” for the tip!

personally, i recommend Unlocker for such things:
[ccollomb.free.fr]
I use for more than a year [ccollomb.free.fr] And I like it, since it delete the blocked files or unlock them – depend what I wish. If someone check the [ccollomb.free.fr] will see a table with “Similar programs and why Unlocker is better”, in which you can see what can do Unlocker and what can do WhoLockMe. I cannot say that the comparation is true, only that I know Unlocker, and is great.
Yep, Unlocker is a wonderful and FREE tool!
I’ll have to check out Unlocker.
See if it’s better than WhoLockMe
Seems like there are a lot of utilities out there that do this job.
Do we have so many locking problems!
I have been using [grubletrang.com] for this purpose for quite a while now.
Will give Unlocker and WhoLockMe a shot…
Unlocker does look pretty nice since you can actually unlock a program, too. Nice find!
I was just going to recommend that too…
I use Unlocker and I swear by it.
WhoLockMe stopped working on my system so I tried Unlocker. On the install, if you uncheck the “Install Bing Toolbar”, you must wait 30 seconds before being able to continue installing – a punishment for not installing revenue-ware. I finally got it running and found that Unlocker phones home every time you use it. Strongly pushing Bing, phone home — no thanks.
It’s an inevitability: every successful freeware app eventually starts bundling crapware. I got the option to install shortcuts to eBay but didn’t have to wait 30 seconds… that’s just nasty. According to the site, the bundled crapware depends on your region.
Perhaps this explains Unlocker’s eagerness to phone home:
“Since Unlocker 1.6.5, during installation you have an option to automatically check for updates.”
