I find it to be nice to have an automated and integrated Update inside Vista. However I can't see Microsoft doing it for a large number of programs. The best I guess they would do is to notify you that a newer version exists (a bit like when a error report is submitted)

That would be better than nothing though, and I wouldn't mind some sort of automatic notification system.

As long as MS made the update feature open for anyone to use and distribute from (like the Office 07 Ribbon program), I’d be all for it. If they try to control it though, fugeddaboutit.
