Or maybe collapse the toolbar down to a single line of text that displays the status, and if you hover over it the bar will expand to the full view. But I also like to have some eye candy from time to time (such as Aero on Windows). There will always be the people who want things as stripped down as possible, and those are probably the people that prefer using Windows with the classic theme.
