Yeh, I was more suggesting it would be cool than useful.

FF, that's because Blogger is owned by Google and has been for many years.

I'm not sure if Google Writely sounds "smooth" but maybe Google Writer? That is still similar to OpenOffice.org though and they probably want to do something to distinguish themselves (like you said).

As far as the Ajax commenting system goes I don't think it is really necessary to have it display new comments as they come in because that isn't happening frequently enough at this point. It would add quite a bit to the server load but it might be worth it when we start getting a ton of commenters...we seem to be getting more and more people involved so that may happen sooner rather than later. *crossing my fingers* :)

I still maintain that I got the email and sent you a tip before you got the email :P

I reckon Google Writely will end up as the name - it's nicer than 'Word' (and less gangsta), is a recognisable brand and sugests that Google aren't just trying to compete with the Microsoft Office (as far as casual use is concerned) but are providing something new and different.

Edit: Incidentally, and nothing to do with the post, the Ajax comment system could go one better - it could add new comments to your page as other people submit them! I imagine it would cause a bit of extra server load, but it would be cool as hell to see.
