I’m not sure why you are receiving this error? It works for me great in Firefox 2.0.0.1 so I have no idea how to help you. This might be something that you can email the Yahoo! Mail team about.

Hi,

I can run Yahoo! Mail Beta version on IE7.0 but when I tried to run it on Firefox 2.0, it gave an error saying that my operating system is in compatable to run this beat version .

Why is there this error ? My OS is MS Windox XP and I can run this beta program under IE 7.0 but not firefox. Anyway to resolve this problem.

I think Yahoo! mail beta is by far the greatest Email around, and it just keeps getting better. Right now the two areas I see Gmail ahead are ads and IM integration. Ads aren’t an issue for me on AT&T, and promising IM integration is coming soon (or so they say; probably won’t be too soon but it’ll be nice when it shows up eventually).

I strongly encourage everyone to give it a shot.

Also, just to clear it up, if you see ads it’s cause you’re using freebie Y! If you don’t see ads it’s cause either you’re paying for plus, accessing it thru a DSL partner, it’s a Y! error, or you’re browser/extension config is blocking them

The initial load time is bad enough, but leave it open in a tab and it will eat up resources big time. I was wondering why system was starting to get to bogged down. Then I looked and saw Firefox was using way more memory than normal. After taking a look at the memory cache I determined it was the Yahoo Mail Beta that was eating up my resources. Soon as I closed that tab things went back to normal. Once again Yahoo has managed to take a great feature and make it bloated and un-user friendly. They did that to the TV Listings and they have changed many of their features such as the maps and movies. All the more reason I am moving all my e-mails to my live.com account.

The ads are pretty big but I have always been used to them with Yahoo. As long as I have had an account with them they have always had pretty large ads.

I agree, I think Yahoo Mail Beta is one of the best online email clients and they showed Microsoft up at their own game. By that I mean Microsoft tried to make their own “Outlook clone” but Yahoo’s is way better. The initial load time for Yahoo (and Microsoft for that matter) is still 10-15 seconds for me in Firefox so I would like to see both of them cut that down a little.

I actually like the way the new yahoo mail beta is laid out. Makes is seem as if I am using a desktop mail client, kudos to the yahoo web mail team.

Okay I got it to work but, it doesn’t like my version of Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061217 BonEcho/2.0.0.1):

Caution: rough seas ahead. You appear to be using an older version of Firefox.
The new Yahoo! Mail Beta works best with Firefox 1.5.0.2 or higher. You can upgrade, continue at your own risk, or simply go to the original Yahoo! Mail.

Once I went head and continued at my own risk, it seemed a little better but still slow. Doesn’t matter much any way as I am migrating all my old yahoo e-mails to my live.com account.
