But then the next question rises… how much system resources will this application consume?

Seems to want a bit of grunt - I installed it on my laptop with low specs and it does take a half second to update/draw screens and so on - it’s definitely noticeable.

I'm sure apps like these are going to require a good graphics card if you want the animations and such to be smooth. I wish they had a set of recommend requirements.

This version run on Windows XP too.

It runs on XP? I wonder why they would call it Yahoo Messenger for Vista then?

That must be the popular thing to do these days. Google Talk does the same thing. I think they're doing it that way to avoid the UAC prompt, which pretty much makes the whole UAC system pointless if applications aren't going to install themselves in the proper location.

I'm actually curious what the system resources are like as well. I was going to install it but then I realized that I don't even have anyone to talk to on there. All of my friends use Google Talk.

On the plus side, it does look nice, and at least this version respects my default system web browser setting.

Am I on crack or does this thing not install itself in the "Program Files" directory?

WTF?!

It looks like it put itself in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Yahoo!\

That is seriously annoying.

Plus, it doesn't look like it even tried to import existing message histories.
